This tool is designed to open the lock if you have a lock out for any reason other than a failed solenoid, by directly energizing the solenoid wires and allowing the lock to be opened.  To use the tool you must be able to drill a hole into the lock case through the spindle hole - no hardplate drilling required.  Once the hole is drilled, you have access to the solenoid wires.  This tool can also be used on other electronic locks, although it might require drilling somewhere other than the spindle hole.
